STEP 1: Getting IN Touch

Let us know you want to get involved by filling out our online form, detailing your experience and personal interests! If you aren’t ready to commit, but would like to ask some questions, you can contact us here!

Step 2: Make a Plan

One of our Program Coordinators will get in touch with you to discuss your goals and interests. They’ll be working with you to help you plan out your 120 hours of participation, including:

  • matching you with volunteer opportunities,

  • reaching out to a mentor,

  • planning a self-directed project, and

  • checking out all the awesome activities we have going on!

Youth can identify a mentor of their preference, or be matched with a mentor from our list of partners.

Mentors will take on the role of advising the participant over the course of the program, and must commit to a total of 10hrs over the course of 4 months.

Self Directed Projects

Youth can bring project ideas to their Program Directors who will help define the project’s goals and start setting things in motion! There may be a possibility of acquiring a small amount of funding to be put towards self-directed projects, through our partnership with Rising Youth.

Projects can take many forms, so don’t hold back- we want to make your ideas happen!

Volunteer Placements

Youth will have the opportunity to discuss their specific goals and interests with their Program Coordinator. Coordinators will follow up with potential options in order to find the most effective and exciting match!

Placements can take a range of forms depending on the needs of both partner organizations and youth. It is possible, for youth to work with multiple organizations in order to complete a meaningful number of volunteer hours throughout the program.

If youth already know of an organization they’d like to work with that is not currently an official project partner, CCYP can look into establishing a volunteer opportunity with that organization!

Group Activities

There’s always a lot going on in our communities and we want youth to get involved!

Youth will be encouraged to participate in a range of events including some core programming organized by staff, as well as community events that fit into our mission.

Youth can also talk to Program Coordinators about organizing their own events with other participants- the more ideas the better!

STEP 3: Monitoring & Support

CCYP staff will check in with youth on a regular basis throughout the duration of the program, ensuring that youth are being fully supported according to their needs.

Youth will be provided with resources assisting with travel, dependent care, conference costs, and other eligible expenses to ensure their success!
